James Beard Award Semifinalists
Congratulations to Aaron Silverman and Fabio Trabocchi for their 2017 James Beard Foundation Semifinalist nominations. Aaron’s Pineapple & Pearls is up for Best New Restaurant and Fabio is nominated for Outstanding Chef. The foundation’s mission is to honor chefs and pioneers of American cuisine nationwide. Having worked with both of these individuals, Potomac Construction has realized their unique and extraordinary culinary skills firsthand and we wish them all the best when Finalists are announced on May 1st.
Washingtonian’s Top 100 Restaurants
Potomac Construction is honored to have worked on two of the top 5 restaurants in Washingtonian’s 100 Very Best Restaurants List for 2017. Congratulations to Aaron Silverman, whose Pineapple and Pearls came in at #1 and Fabio Trabocchi, whose Fiola Mare came in at #5. Looking forward to building even more restaurants to crack DC’s highest ranks!
Renovations are almost complete at Honeysuckle, the heavily anticipated restaurant replacing DC favorite Vidalia. Former Vidalia Chef Hamilton Johnson’s new venture has a “rock and roll, fine-dining edge” and will be open soon! We are proud to have worked on this project and look forward to the regional cuisine, unique design and most importantly, the success of the restaurant!
Congratulations to our friends at &pizza, whose Chinatown location just won the 2017 Outside the Box Award from Restaurant Development + Design Magazine. We were proud to work on this project along with our close partners at HapstakDemetriou+ and are thrilled that the unique design of the restaurant has been recognized for its layout, logistics and according to the judges, its “great, localized, funky urban design.” In addition, the restaurant won Honorable Mentions for the Form + Function Innovation Award and the Best Limited-Service Restaurant Design Award.
Early Reviews of Sfoglina Are In
Fabio and Maria Trabocchi’s new restaurant, Sfoglina, is a pasta-centric eatery in the Van Ness neighborhood. The Trabocchi’s, the duo behind Casa Luca, Fiola and Fiola Mare, have opened their fourth restaurant, which is “meant to be casual-yet-stylish, with custom fabrics and bright banquettes,” according to the Washingtonian. Potomac Construction is proud to have worked on this project and greatly value the partnerships we have.
